Lt. Michael P. Murphy
During Operation Red Wings on June 28, 2005, Murphy led a four-man reconnaissance team ambushed by a much larger Taliban force in Kunar Province. Despite being wounded, he exposed himself to heavy fire to make a satellite call for help, ensuring the possibility of rescue for his men. His actions cost him his life but saved others. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 2007, presented to his parents by President George W. Bush.
