Sgt. Dakota Meyer

During the Battle of Ganjgal, Meyer repeatedly entered a heavily contested kill zone under direct enemy fire to locate and recover wounded personnel and recover the remains of fallen service members. His actions were carried out over multiple trips in coordination with ongoing combat operations. He continued these recovery efforts despite worsening conditions and sustained enemy engagement in the area.
